David Wright throws himself into new routine

...Great article from today's Daily News. It takes a closer look into some of the things David Wright has done this offseason to improve his defense. I like that about Wright, that even though he won a "Gold Glove" last season he still realizes that he's not perfect. Let's be honest, it's not like he was the obvious favorite to win that Gold Glove anyway.

David was quoted as saying the following about his defense:

"I would trade the 'Web Gems' just to make all the routine ones," Wright said. "That's what wins games. That's where I seem to have the most problems - when I have too much time to think, or I relax a little bit. Maybe I don't focus on the routine play like I do on the spectacular play."

He was also quoted as saying the following about his offense:

"The aggressiveness I normally have, I kind of put that to the side to see some pitches - to make sure when April comes around what happened last year doesn't happen again, where I'm struggling to start the season," Wright said. "I still want to try to win the game in spring training, but if there's nobody on, or a guy on first, I'll try to take a few pitches, maybe try to work from behind in the count, whereas when you're a younger player a couple of years ago, you're just going up there hacking to try to get the hits. Now it's more about getting ready for the season."
